YiPoh Yim Kok Kai @ Damansara Utama

You might be familiar with Damasara Utama or Damansara Uptown area but you might not notice YiPoh. The sign board is so normal, colour not stand out, shop is simple with minimum deco.

Boxes are ever ready. They offer full moon packages as well.

Their "yim kok kai" are ayam kampung. The aroma of "tong kwai" attacked my nose once I opened the aluminium foil. Then, the lean chicken meat captured my eyes. Within split seconds, my brain sent signals to my hand to grap a piece and put into my mouth! Hmmmmmm....the meat was sooooo smooth & tender. Just like the 2 Chinese words printed on the sign board, "Original". Nyum nyum...I can feel the taste in my mouth now :-D

For the quality of the chicken, RM11 - half bird, RM19 - whole bird, I consider the price very reasonable.

The tauge there is as fat and as crunchy as those in Ipoh. Eat with the chicken...perfect!

Besides rice, they also serve noodles. Ordered herbal kuey toew soup. The herbs in the soup taste different from herbs of the chicken. It's less "heavy". Had to ask for cili padi.

I was there on a Saturday afternoon for late lunch. Not many customers there since it's almost 2pm. While I was still eating, the male owner cum chef came out to have lunch with his son (about 5 years old). Two tables away, I saw there were rice, yim kok kai and some other dishes on their table. The little boy sat down first, followed by the father. First thing the father did was to scoop a few spoons of the gravy from the yim kok kai onto the plate of rice in front of his son.

I thought to myself. The yim kok kai must be nutritious, and definitely safe to consume :-)

How to get there?
Take LDP, from SS2 to 1-Utama, turn left into Damansara Utama right before BhP Petrol Station. Yih Poh is on your left, same row with The Ship.

Food: Tasty, healthy.
Ambience: Air-conditioned, Comfy
Price: Reasonable

Hello. My wife and I bought our house about 6 months ago. It was a foreclosure and we were able to get a great deal on it. We also took advantage of the 8K tax credit so that definitely helped. We did an extensive remodeling job and now I want to refinance to cut the term to a 20 or 15 year loan. Does anyone know any good sites for mortgage information? Thanks!
