2369...after watching Ho Chak!, their fish head mihun is in the top list of our makan-makan adventure.
Let me tell you what does most popular mean. A dedicated chef with his dedicated helpers at a dedicated cooking area. Fish head mihun are cooked at the side of the restaurant. The rest of the dish are prepared in the kitchen. When we were there, literally every table, in fact, almost every customer ordered this.
I wonder how many bowls of fish head mihun sold in a day...
Their most popular dish - sang ha fish head mihun. I must stress on the soup. It has got ginger, tomato, ham coi, evaporated milk and lots of "siu heng zau" (Chinese cooking wine). Prawns and fish are fresh. No wonder the 2 hosts in Ho Chak! were extra excited on this. It's so thick that I advise you not to finish all. Otherwise, be prepared for the after effect of the wine. E.g, My two colleagues were talking non-stop and laughing all the way back to office.
You can also op for thick mihun. Didn't really like their thick mihun. The texture is more like spagetthi...not the soft type.
Served with sambal but you don't really need it. The soup is already so "kau"! I like the idea of serving a small empty by default. You'll need it for the bones. Just leave them on the table? Ah ah...not my style.
"Yu Wat" mihun soup...similar soup base, but without the fish head and prawn. Sure not as yummy wan la.
After 20minutes...can you spot which bowl had the biggest prawn?
How to get there?
Food: Only tried the signature dish. Very tasty.
Ambience: Air-conditioned & outdoor. Comfy.
